PROPOSALS

Troxy is a Grade II Listed Building which was a former cinema and has a long history of serving the East London community. The site’s main entrance is on Commercial Road and backs on to the railway line on Pitsea Place. Our proposals include restoration of the existing building and a new 84-bed hotel.

New 84 bed hotel

We are proposing to build a new 84-bed hotel which will be developed at the back of the Troxy building.  Currently, there is a two-story building at the back of the Troxy that primarily houses dressing rooms associated with the theatre.  We propose to reuse this space to provide improved dressing rooms alongside a new hotel.

There have been ongoing conversations with hotel operators, which have identified a clear demand for good quality accommodation. Recognising the paramount importance of providing guests with a peaceful environment for a good night's sleep, measures will be taken to ensure noise levels are kept to a minimum.

Heritage improvements to the existing buildings

The refurbishment and restoration project for the Troxy and adjoining Brewery Tap buildings will focus on reinstating key heritage features.

This includes repairing and reinstating the front entrance doors and canopy to match the original frontage, thereby preserving the historical integrity of the structures. Plans also include the inclusion of a new lift to ensure accessibility to all levels.

The Brewery Tap's frontage will undergo restoration to bring back its original features and a flexible floorspace introduced so it can be used by local communities.
